Things were okay when all I had was Firefox and Safari. The thing I am going to miss most about Xmarks is its ability to search through all my Bookmarks and delete all the duplicates and a couple of other thing like duplicated bookmark folders. I made a clean backup of my bookmarks which took me a long time to sort out after Firefox sync screwed them up multiple times. After searching for alternatives I found Eversync and I am going to give it a try to see how it goes. Looking in Mozilla's forum this seems to be quite common and even in Firefox 58, they admit they have no fix for it. I started getting duplicates upon duplicates every time I started up Firefox and even had some of my bookmarks disappear out of the blue. They offer no way to cleanup duplicates or invalid bookmarks, and when synching across multiple computers things can go horribly wrong. until today! Firefox sync is just horrible. I had been using Firefox sync for bookmarks for several months now since switching from Chrome.
